CrossHeirs Work Weekend

On May 11th and 12th we will be hosting the Sr. High kids from STEP Ministry. In addition to their regular retreat activities these fellas want to build something... so we will oblige them and you are invited to help. On Saturday, May 12th we will be repairing our Sporting clay range, as well as building our storage shed, dog kennel and equipment shed as well as a little landscap- ing. We need men who like to hammer, cut, drill and sweat! This is a very important project and needs to be done sooner rather than later so bring lawn chairs and a lunch and let me know if you can make it.

Nelson Home Project

It’s been such a blessing working on the Nelson Home Project. Richard and Debbie Nelson inspire me every time I go there. We are nearly wrapped up with the project. As you can see we put the new metal roof on over the weekend of April 14th and 15th. We now have only to put in the new windows and put the siding on Debbie’s new craft room. Thank you so much to all the churches that helped but especially to our volunteer “contractor” Mike Lindsey for his tireless service.

Speaking of Weddings…

We actually had TWO weddings in April. The first was a small, family affair over Easter Weekend when Jeffrey Dozier and Vicky Lindsey tied the knot. Unfortunately Camille and I were in London and we don’t have any pictures. However, April was also the month when I was blessed with the honor and opportunity to officiate my first wedding – not at CrossHeirs but in Hot Springs. I was a bit nervous but Lanny and Liz Johnson (left) are still officially married! Liz made a beautiful bride!

Ladies Gun Safety & Concealed Carry

Ladies, it can be intimidating taking a gun safety and concealed carry course with a bunch of men. So make plans for some girl time at CrossHeirs on June 9th. Cost of the course is just $100 and includes a lunch. The course will be taught by licensed instructor Keith Kerr.

Big Jim’s Lodge Comes Alive!

Can it get any more beautiful than this; a spectacular spring day, a beautiful bride and the CrossHeirs Retreat Center in full bloom? We were so blessed to serve as the venue for the wedding of Chris Curry and Christina Trice.

Camille and I came down to help Chefs Paul and Donna with the rehearsal dinner and heard such glowing comments from all the guests, many from as far away as California! What a blessing that is when you put your heart and soul into a ministry like the Crossheirs Retreat Center. So thank you for all your prayers and financial support that has helped us begin the journey toward turning this facility into a memory that guests like Chris and Christina will never forget.

Financial Need

Summer is swiftly approaching and we need to rearrange our AC duct work to make sure we keep the large den cooled during the heat of July and August. The good folks at Freyaldenhoven are donating much of their service but we will still need $5,480 to get it all done. That’s an incredible price for a building our size. All contributions are tax deductible. Please make your checks payable to CrossHeirs or pay online at the website.

Ducks, Bucks, and BBQ

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to have been asked to MC this event on August 25th at Nashville, AR’s Ridgeway Baptist Church. Duck Commander, Phil Robertson, will be the speaker. Have you see his new show on A & E? It’s called Duck Dynasty and it’s just a hoot... but you can tell they also love the Lord. Make plans to be with us in August!

We have a critical need at the lodge for a tractor with a finish mower attachment. We have more than 35 acres of grass to mow on a weekly basis and our old riding mower just wasn't up to the task and has gone kaput! In addition to the lawn, we have brush to cut, roads to grade, dirt to move, and a host of other needs that only a 32hp or better tractor will be able to handle. I think we an get what we need for about $15k. Thanks so much for your help!
